Position Title: Laundry Attendant
Reports To: Executive Housekeeper

Job Overview
Provide daily clean linens such as bed sheets, bath towel, pillow covers, etc. to the Housekeeping Department. Operate laundry machinery, such as washers, dryers, folding equipment, and irons, according to recommended capacity and manufacturer guidelines. Responsible for washing, drying, folding, pressing, and restocking all hotel linens in a timely, organized manner to ensure there is an adequate supply available to meet the demand of the hotel.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Pre-sort and separate linen by classification and transfer by lifting, carrying or transporting to work stations.
· Inspect linens and record damaged or stained items. Pretreat stains with specified cleaning agents when needed.
· Load laundry into washing machine, measure and add administer cleaning agents according to product specifications.
· Monitor feeder information on washers, make sure all drums are full, and report any irregularities to immediate supervisor.
· Transfer wet, clean items to dryer and set the proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen.
· Sort and fold or hang clean dried items.
· Stock linen supply room with cleaned product.
· Deliver linen and other items to guest rooms as necessary.
· Deliver linen and requested room items to Room Attendant
· Maintain all laundry equipment and inform supervisor as to any maintenance needs.
· Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to manager.
· Assist in daily linen count for inventories.
· Properly use all soaps, chemicals and equipment
· Clean laundry equipment, vent screens, lint filters, and drain traps.
· Keep Laundry Room and storage areas clean and organized.
- Follow procedures for proper care of laundry items, operating laundry equipment, usage of cleaning agents.
· Perform additional tasks as assigned by managers or supervisors.
· Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
· Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
· Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
· Respond in a timely manner to guest requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.
· Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
· Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
· Assist other housekeeping employees in maintaining clean and organized work and public areas.
· Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
· Report all suspicious persons, activities or hazardous conditions.
· Turn in all items found in employee's working area to Hotel Lost and Found department.
· Assist other positions in department as needed or as directed by immediate supervisor.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.
· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
· Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Must possess basic computational ability.
· Work is generally performed in the Hotel's laundry area with exposure to heat, fumes, water and steam.
· Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments and areas of the hotel on a timely basis.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
· Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
· Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
· Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
· Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Requirements
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High School Graduate preferred.
None required, laundry experience preferred.
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
