POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of moderate to complex accounting and financial concepts including project contract billing and other requirements, multiple jurisdiction sales and use tax reporting, project cost analysis and reconciliation to budgets, inventory and warranty recording and reconciliation, and participation and adherence to GAAP-compliant period closing procedures and audit preparation activities. The Senior Accountant will assist in driving all aspects of the month-end close process- successful candidates will be excellent problem-solvers and deadline-driven, with the desire to take ownership of key financial processes and responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- · Create, submit and manage AIA customer invoices according to unique construction contract requirements
- · Manage all lien waivers, completion certificates and closing documents per project requirements
- · Inspect, compare, analyze and reconcile cost accounting to individual weekly project budgets
- · Maintain, manage and reconcile monthly warehouse inventory in conjunction with purchasing manager
- · Create, revise and reconcile monthly warranty schedule and prepare monthly warranty entries
- · Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for five states with multiple jurisdictions
- · Insurance – COI management/submission and performance and payment bonds for customer contracts
- · Maintain and analyze general ledger for correct cost coding within project-based accounting system
- · Backup support for Accounts Payable and purchasing functions when necessary
- · Prepare and manage prepaids, accruals, and amortization schedules for monthly and annual close
- · Complete all other month-end tasks & schedules as assigned, assist in month and year end closing
- · Assist with annual audit preparation including schedule review and reconciliations as needed
- · Other various tasks and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Experience and skills:
- · Five years accounts payable working experience- must have construction or job-costing experience
- · Three years progress invoicing using AIA forms and lien waivers required
- · Three years sales tax reporting and submission, AZ experience preferred
- · Understanding and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles
- · Three years of account reconciliation experience and financial analysis with project-based revenues
- · Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 with Excel and Adobe Acrobat DC
- · Experience in QuickBooks Desktop required; Bill, Box and Quickbase is preferred
- · Strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines
- · Creative problem-solving skills- you must think outside the box
- · Prioritization & organization skills- must be able to multi-task and switch gears easily
- · Team player attitude with flexibility, initiative, and persistence
WORKING CONDITIONS
Casual office environment Monday- Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5 PM.
