Job Description:
Echelon Wine Bar is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to assist our Executive Chef with all aspects of our culinary program. Echelon farm-to-table culinary program is a scratch kitchen that prepares delectable dishes to pair with and feature wines from all over the world. This position will assist our Executive Chef in managing the procurement of food, development of menus, training of staff, preparation of all food, development and coordination of menus for all culinary private events.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position are the following:
- Weekly ordering and purchasing of menu items required for events and menu;
- Weekly food preparation of menu items to be served in the wine bar;
- Preparation and/or training of kitchen staff to deliver excellent culinary menu;
- Assist in the development of menu items;
- Assist in the development of monthly wine & food pairing tasting menus;
- Execution of events such as wine dinners and private events;
- Assist in maintaining external vendor relationships and communications with food vendors;
Job Requirements:
The individual must exemplify the following qualifications and skills:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working as a sous chef (preferred);
- Culinary school graduate (preferred);
- Servsafe certified (preferred);
- Available regular schedule during the week evenings and as needed for private events and monthly wine dinners;
- Track record of leadership in the kitchen;
- Creative menu development skills and presentation;
- Experience with purchasing and background with local food vendors;
- Strong background in culinary events and hospitality management;
- Excellent verbal/written communication, customer service, and organizational skills are necessary;
- Exemplary customer service standards. Be willing to “go the extra mile” to satisfy our clients;
- Ability to work with our wine educators in a cordial and respectful manner;
- Ability to keep calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment;
- Self-motivated, highly-organized, positive with a good attention to detail;
- Strong PC skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Word);
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
