Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Surgery Scheduler to join our team. As a Surgery Scheduler, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures for our patients. Your attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical department.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with patients, surgeons, surgery center, anesthesia and other healthcare professionals
- Obtain necessary medical records and documentation for surgeries
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization for surgical procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date scheduling information in the electronic medical records system (NextGen EHR)
- Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, including fasting requirements, medication restrictions, and arrival times
- Review surgery schedules with the physicians
- Make necessary changes to the surgery schedule as it changes
- Collaborate with the front desk staff to ensure efficient patient flow and minimize wait times
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing patient inquiries
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families throughout the surgical process
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a medical office is preferred
- Familiarity with medical records management and administrative tasks
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
