DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement and review procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process
- Analyze current production procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies
- Provide management with data and statistics to enable management to understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process
- Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair to keep production equipment operational.
- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control
- Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing a quality program
- Ensure the company’s manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations
- Review, and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making
- Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules as needed, resolving production problems
- Ensure development of new employees through orientation and training
- Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, monitoring personnel and resources, observing control points and equipment, facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process and machinery
- Revise procedures by analyzing operating practices and implementing changes as required
- Meet or exceed department productivity goals as set by management
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge required to perform all job functions
- Communicate expectations for employee’s performance, provide them with tools needed to perform and monitor to ensure compliance
- Maintain safe and clean work environment
- Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources
- Communicate with other employees and departments about work related processes
- Identify employee issues and work toward solutions with the assistance of HR and management
- Interview and hire candidates based on values and skills the company requires
- Update information in Global Shop as necessary
- Perform additional related duties as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Manage processes and process improvements
- Plan production including prioritizing jobs and manpower to complete jobs on schedule
- Ability to identify areas of process improvement
- Ability to communicate job expectations, monitor and appraise results
- Ability to effectively coach and counsel employees on performance and behavioral issues
- Proficient on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Reader
- Ability to interview candidates and hire based on the values and skills the company requires.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Mechanical Engineering degree (AS/BS) preferred
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering role a plus
- Previous supervisor experience a plus
- Experience prioritizing workload and staff assignments
- Solidworks/AutoCAD experience
- Powder coat and/or industrial coating experience, a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
