Job Summary
The Business Unit Manager is a critical leadership position within TransDigm. As the leader and orchestrater of a co-located, cross-functional business unit team. The Business Unit Manager thinks and acts like the owner of the Business Unit to drive the profit and loss results in three key areas: profitable new business, value-based pricing, and productivity / cost savings. The expectation is to achieve consistent year over year growth while exceeding customer expectations. Due to the high level of visibility and accountability, the Business Unit Manager is a key development position for succession planning to senior management within the business or TransDigm. It is not uncommon for a Business Unit Manager to move to one of the 50 locations within TransDigm.
The Business Unit Manager reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and is a forward, customer-facing role. The majority of time is spent on customer facing activities and includes customer relations, contract review and negotiations, new business development, and Business Unit Bookings.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for achieving Bookings, Sales, and EBITDA objectives
- Drive consistent value creation through value based pricing, profitable new business, and productivity
- Develop and execute a Business Unit strategy resulting in year over year growth
- Lead a cross-functional Business Unit Team
- Implement initiatives to continuously improve the team responsiveness to customer/business needs
- Prepare and execute a comprehensive Annual Business Unit Plan
- Develop and present Quarterly business reviews to executive management
- Develop positive relationships with customers
- Responsible for contract review and negotiations
- Develop a performance-oriented work environment with high accountability
Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited university or college
- Technical degree preferred but not required
- 5 years total experience which includes roles of increasing responsibility
- Experience leading direct reports preferred but not required
- Experience leading a cross functional team preferred but not required
- Ability to travel 25-40%
