The Senior Accountant will provide full-cycle accounting support to several entities in commercial real estate, vineyard and/or winery companies. Specific duties include, managing cash positions, posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations and preparing full financials. This is a key position in our finance organization and has routine exposure with senior management. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and works closely with Business Managers to provide accounting and general business support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain timely and accurate cash management, including monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting to Senior Management to ensure entities are adequately funded to meet its obligations.
- Responsible for preparation and full presentation of financial statements for several entities in accordance with closing calendar (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Equity Summary and Cash Flow Statement).
- Complete complex equity calculations for various equity partners and prepare consolidated financial statements.
- Responsible for completing and filing various tax reports and payments related to state B&O, local personal property tax returns, real estate taxes.
- Responsible for fixed asset accounting for assigned entities, including capital vs. expense, WIP tracking, recommending useful lives and depreciation schedules for asset additions.
- Prepare annual Federal Tax Return supporting documentation for all assigned entities.
- Assists with preparation of the annual budgets and monthly forecasting for assigned entities
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and within all applicable laws.
- Participate in special projects as needed or directed by leadership which may include identifying and implementing process improvements, participation in software upgrades and supporting business growth
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field required
- 5+ years experience in all phases of accounting from transaction level through completion of financial statements.
- Experience in winery, real estate or manufacturing environments
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word and Outlook
- Detail-oriented with a passion for organization. Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines.
- Must be able to review, analyze and interpret financial information accurately for the purpose of preparing financial reports.
- Ability to work independently yet exercise sound business judgment to know when to ask for help and/or guidance.
- Ability to interact professionally with employees, tenants, owners, customers, and vendors.
- Strong written and verbal skills including ability to deliver well written reports and business correspondence. Ability to present numerical data effectively.
- Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens well and gets clarification when necessary.
- Changes approach or method to best fit the situation or circumstances; Able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
