SUMMARY:
Baylor Genetics is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Development to lead our team in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge LIMS solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, project management, and laboratory informatics, with a passion for driving innovation in laboratory automation and data management. This is a hands-on role that requires design/coding with deep LIMS development experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields with work experience in the science domain.
Experience
- 3+ years of working experience as a lead LIMS Developer or similar role in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries. Experience with Sapio Sciences LIMS system is a plus.
- Strong experience in software development using Python, Java, Bash, Perl, and SQL.
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong curiosity and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-changing environment.
- Knowledge on clinical genetic testing laboratory processes and workflows is a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design, customization, and configuration of the LIMS software to align with Baylor Genetics’ laboratory workflows, data requirements, and reporting needs.
- Design, develop and maintain custom modules, data entry UI, and scripts to automate tasks and integrate the LIMS with other laboratory instruments and systems including automation liquid-handling systems.
- Manage the underlying database structure of the LIMS, including schema design, optimization, and data migration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to LIMS team, laboratory staff, troubleshoot issues and address user inquiries related to LIMS functionality.
- Stay updated with LIMS software updates and enhancements, test new features, and implement upgrades as needed.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for customizations, configurations, mapping workflows (such as: SOPs, User Guides, Training Materials, Test Plans, Validation Documents).
- Ensure that the LIMS systems complies with industry regulations, standards, and data security protocols.
- Project priorities could change and at that time, we expect the duties/responsibilities to re-align to company’s latest strategic priorities.
