Coordinates and manages office activities and workflow processes to ensure smooth efficient operations in the Department. Performs administrative support duties, makes work related decisions in accordance with existing policies and procedures. Have a good knowledge of office equipment/office management tools and oversees the work activities of lower level support personnel and staff. May perform designated duties of immediate supervisor during periods of absence. Overall, support the Chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Physiology to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the Department, including all operational activities in the Department. Coordinating schedules, arranging meetings distribution of memos, reports ensuring that everyone is kept abreast of company news/information. Provides support to faculty, students and research personnel.
Daily Operations

Administers and coordinates academic and departmental activities, office services and the work activities of lower-level support personnel. Supports the chair of achieve the vision, mission, and goals of the department in teaching, research and service. Achieving goals in a timely manner.

Assists in the development and implementation of office procedures and work schedules. Plans, schedules, facilitates meetings, manages Chair’s emails and calendar.

Acts as a liaison with other departments, faculty, staff, students and external organizations and responds to inquiries regarding department policies, procedures and functions.

Composes, formats, and types correspondence using PC applications including word processing and spreadsheets.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of institutional policies, procedures and organization structure.

Demonstrated knowledge and proficient in use of various PC office based applications to include work processing and spreadsheets

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of related experience or a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
