Float MA Opportunity:
TalentWell is seeking a float Medical Assistant for a rapidly growing pain management group based in Southeast Houston, TX. This position will work out of our Clear Lake clinic location.
This position is a hybrid role that will be crosstrained to perform multiple roles; technical specialist, front desk and MA clinical duties. This position is expected to “float”, i.e. to fill-in based on clinic needs that result from staffing shortages or high patient volume.

- Full-time, permanent role
- Pay: $15.00-$16.00/hour
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
- Position works out of the Pasadena clinic location

RESPONSIBILITIES (in addition to Phlebotomy)
Front Desk Duties:
- Open office by unlocking front doors, turning on lights/computers, and wipe down all surfaces in lobby/front desk area maintain a clean environment.
- Greet patients as they walk in the door with a positive friendly attitude maintaining optimal customer services at all times.
- Answer phones, take/send messages, and schedule appointments.
- Document patient calls in clinical EMR
- Coordinate with insurance and billing department regarding patient payments and collections
- Check emails and clinical messages daily and respond to them accordingly
- Collect and post patient payments
- Reconcile money bags and double check for accuracy at the end of the day
- Check patients in and out in EMR system, marking patients confirmed in Office Hours.
- Zoom patient intake forms pharmacy information into the chart
- Assist patients with filling out paper work or addressing any of their needs.
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Maintain strict confidentiality by following HIPPA guidance at all times.
- Coordinate with Specialty Techs and Front Desk staff every morning by giving them a copy of your clinic schedule with the patients who require labs and urine testing for that day.
- Open patient exam rooms in morning by turning on the lights and wiping all surfaces down to minimize risk of infections/viruses
- Room patients, obtain and record vital signs.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient and confirming purpose of visit.
- Document patient medical histories, treatment and test results in the EMR.
- Make sure grey boxes are up to date with current PMP verification, last UDS, and MME score.
- Assist practitioners with medical procedures, examinations and other patient care needs.
- Educate patients by giving them instructions on the process of medication refills and procedure/imaging scheduling.
- Answer all patient messages and return calls in a timely manner
- Make sure medication tabs are updated in EMR and all medications for clinic and phone prescription refills have been sent by the end of each day.
- Scan and label patient lab reports or other clinical documentation into the patients chart.
- Schedule/Reschedule patients according to their medication fill date.
- Responsible for sending patient recommendations and referrals to appropriate departments on a daily basis.
- Maintain communication with management, nursing supervisor and superiors regarding any scheduling changes.
- Responsible for the daily submission of medical record request, imaging orders and procedure forms.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, HIPPA and OSHA.
Technical Specialist Duties:
- Collect Urine samples from patients for toxicology.
- Assist in procuring DME/bracing for patients per the provider order.
- Generate lab orders for patients.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Phlebotomist/ medical assistant role.
- 1 year of front desk experience preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Phlebotomist certification preferred.
- Have high school diploma, or equivalent.
- A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
