The Labor & Delivery Nurse utilizes the nursing processes based on research and evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs.
- Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- Demonstrates leadership skills by directing personnel and establishing collegial relationships with others.
- Provides quality nursing care to all patients in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act, and professional regulatory standards.
- Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct.
- Supports the mission of the Patient Care Services Division.
- Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
The Labor and delivery nurse supports the family-centered maternity care model and provides direct nursing care in accordance with the family-centered mission and philosophy of maternity services. Cares for high-risk antepartum patients with multiple high-risk diagnoses in an outpatient setting, assessing through fetal diagnostic testing for fetal well-being.
Job Requirements:
- Active, Current California RN License
- BLS, ACLS, NRP Certifications
- Basic Fetal Monitoring
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring every other year
- Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of the age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments
- If BSN has not been obtained upon hire then the Clinical Nurse I must begin the BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain their BSN within two years of starting the program
