Summary:
This is a professional position that provides clinical assessment and therapy services to youth (ages 6-21) and their families that meet criteria for serious emotional disturbance (SED). This position provides individual and family therapy in an office setting or via telehealth, using evidence-based practices. The Outpatient Therapist also promotes coordination of services within natural supports, schools, DHHS, foster care, primary care physicians, and other community agencies. The Outpatient Therapist will work under the direction of the Youth and Family Services (YFS) Outpatient Manager and will be provided regular supervision to discuss assigned cases, including but not limited to diagnostic findings, treatment planning and client progress. The YFS Outpatient therapist works as a member of the treatment team and is responsible for making referrals to other services programs as clinically indicated (psychiatric, parent support, youth support, Wraparound etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and make initial diagnosis using the DSM
- Facilitate and coordinate person-centered treatment plans
- Provide individual and family therapy in the office or via telehealth utilizing evidence-based practices
- Facilitate therapy groups, if of interest
- Maintain a caseload of 40-60 clients and hold therapy sessions 1-4 times per month for each client, as clinically indicated
- Meet monthly performance standard for billable hours
- Collaborate and participate with treatment team, community partners, and other natural supports as identified by the family
- Participate in case conferences and staff meetings
- Initiate referrals for psychiatric evaluations when deemed clinically appropriate
- Assist families with accessing and utilizing community resources
- Prepare reports for other agencies, DHHS, courts, schools, etc.
- Obtain and maintain CAFAS and PECFAS rater-reliability and conduct quarterly CAFAS/PECFAS assessments
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation to ensure client records meet DWIHN, CARF, and agency standards
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures, including Behavioral Health Telehealth Agreement
- Participate in in-service planning and programming
- Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in a mental health discipline
- State of Michigan full or limited licensure required, if Social Worker, Psychologist, or Counselor
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with evaluation treatment and services delivered to children and their families
- Proficient in data management and technology usage
