Position Overview: The Groundskeeper and General Facilities Technician at the Eiteljorg Museum plays a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of the museum's grounds and facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that the museum’s outdoor areas are well-maintained, aesthetically pleasing, and safe for visitors. Additionally, the role involves performing a variety of general maintenance tasks to support the smooth operation of the museum’s buildings and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include landscaping, lawn care, and seasonal tasks such as snow removal. The Groundskeeper and General Facilities Technician will also assist with event setup and teardown, basic building repairs, and routine maintenance tasks. This role requires proficiency in using a range of landscaping and maintenance tools and equipment, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors and staff is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor. By ensuring the highest standards of maintenance and presentation, the Groundskeeper and General Facilities Technician will contribute significantly to the overall visitor experience at the Eiteljorg Museum.

Qualifications and Work Experience Requirements:
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by event schedules and seasonal demands.
· Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative when needed.
· Proficiency in using landscaping tools and equipment, including trimmers, blowers, edgers, power saws, and other assorted tools.
Knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and grounds maintenance techniques.
· Basic mechanical skills for the maintenance and repair of lawn care equipment and vehicles.
· Ability to safely handle and apply chemicals used for weed control and ice melting.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate service records.
· Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
· Basic understanding of building maintenance and the use of hand and power tools.
· Willingness to work at the Annual Indian Market and Festival and other special events as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance: Safely and efficiently use landscaping tools for all aspects of grounds maintenance, including trimmers, blowers, edgers, power saws, and other assorted tools. Maintain the museum’s lawn care equipment and vehicles by fueling, oiling, and replacing major or minor parts. Maintain all service records in the Facilities CMMS. Routinely water plants, monitor, and maintain landscaped areas that require attention. Maintain the museum irrigation systems, making adjustments and repairs as necessary, including individual heads, major leaks, and time clock work.
- Event Support: Assist the events manager in ensuring that rental events are properly set up, maintained, and torn down for rental or in-house events.
- Housekeeping Support: Work with housekeeping staff as needed due to workload or team absence, with work assigned by the housekeeping task schedule.
- Trash and Litter Removal: Remove trash and litter from the museum grounds and transport it to the proper disposal location using museum vehicles.
- Snow Removal: Responsible for regular seasonal snow removal as necessary, utilizing manual tools and museum vehicles.
- Building Maintenance: Assist with building maintenance, utilizing power saws, drills, hand tools, and other assorted tools and equipment to help with the upkeep of the building and preventative maintenance needs.
- Supply Management: Keep track of all grounds supplies and report conditions or needs for re-ordering to the supervisor. This includes tools, ice melting agents, mower blades, belts, weed control chemicals, etc.
- Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned by Facilities team leadership. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Special Events: Work the Annual Indian Market and Festival on the 4th weekend of June, and other special events as assigned.
- Volunteer Coordination: Lead volunteers as needed to help with landscaping and gardening.
