We are looking for qualified School Age Teachers to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education, and to provide exceptional care to our before and afterschool program. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life.
A School Age teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention.
The objective is to support the child's mental and emotional growth, facilitating a smoother transition to the next educational stage like Kindergarten.
Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for School Age children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times (Preschool)
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Assist in any virtual learning or in person learning (School Age)
- You will be responsible for the health and safety of a maximum of your classroom
- Employee must utilize KidKare & ProCare daily
Requirements
- Proven experience as a School Age Teacher
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a school age teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Must have knowledge of Arizona Department of Health Services licensing regulations pertaining to childcare
Mandatory Credentials
- Current Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current Maricopa County Food Handlers Card
- A negative TB test dated within the last year
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid
- High School Diploma
- BS/BA in education or relevant field or CDA Certification -( Preferred )
- AZ Early Childhood Workforce Registry Member.
Other Qualifications
- One or more years of experience working as a lead or assistant teacher in a childcare setting
- One or more years of experience serving a multi-cultural, socially diverse population desired
- Meet annual professional development requirements, per state regulations
- Proficient in using Windows and Apple based computers and tablets
