Medical Assistant job description:
Medical Assistants (MA) assist providers and other members of the health care team in the clinic by performing a variety of back office and patient-related tasks and ensuring smooth patient and workflow within the department. MAs will also perform variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice. These procedures may include but are not limited to: injections, wound care, assisting with spinal and joint injections, various diagnostic tests, measuring patient vital signs, manage rooming and patient flow including pre-visit preparation, assisting with the patient visit, and post-visit duties. MAs inform providers of schedule changes that impact patient flow, assist with front office activities and varied scheduling tasks, obtaining prior authorizations and any other tasks as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Perform vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient history and medication lists
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care
- Coordinate patient appointments and referrals
- Provide medical administrative support, such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records
Minimum experience requirements:
- Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge
- Experience with medication administration and basic life support techniques
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
