The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall organization, planning, implementation, evaluation, and provision of nursing care within the San Antonio Surgery Center of Excellence (SASCOE).
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining an efficient patient workflow and a safe and effective patient care environment, including assuring all staff and visitors’ adherence to facility policies and procedures
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining continuous process improvement activities, including, but not limited to, Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement projects, Infection Control and Prevention, and Sterile Processing.
- Adhere to all facility policies, OSHA regulations, and uphold HIPAA guidelines.
- While the surgery center onboards new service lines and providers to expand services to additional physicians and service lines, it is expected that this position will be able to interchangeably:
- Perform all duties as the pre-op, circulating/sedation, Cath lab and PACU/ recovery as needed
- Perform all duties of the supplies/inventory manager as needed
- Perform all duties of the infection control nurse and quality improvement nurse as needed
- Assists with onboarding New Service Line w/10 or more procedures
- Maintains 100% Regulatory Compliance (logs, drills, training, infection control, QAPI, etc)
- Supervision of all nursing personnel and allied professionals
- Implementing new policies, procedures and/or care protocols
- Providing ongoing education to nursing and other support personnel
- Recruiting, onboarding and training new nursing personnel
- Managing patients’ data and medical records ensuring best practice for maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
- Communicating with physicians/APPs, staff, patients, and family members/caregivers
- Communicating with and coordinating care with collaborating providers, pharmacies and others involved in patients’ care
- Exercising diligence to aid the Company in keeping controllable costs of medical services to a minimum, including utilizing best practices for ordering and utilizing nursing supplies
- Reportsdefective equipment timely at assigned clinic to the appropriate Company/Vendor.
- Maintaining adequate records as required by the Company and the clinic
- Provide case management for patients ensuring appropriate utilization of services and discharge planning
- Provide specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education
- Act as a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care
- Effectively communicates with others, both verbally and in written form
- Report daily census and quality metrics to Regional Director of Operations
- Attend required calls/meetings
- Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
- Perioperative, Circulating, Cath lab and/or ICU: 5 years (Preferred)
- ASC Administration: 1 year (Preferred)
- Spanish (Preferred)
- Current Texas license as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR from American Heart Association
- Strong Communication skills
- Exceptional Time Management skills
- Exceptional Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Demonstrate competence in using Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint) for the design and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, training aids, checklists, etc
- Customer Service oriented with a focus on patient satisfaction
