PURPOSE:
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Operations team. The Industrial Maintenance Technician ensures the safe and efficient operation of equipment at Waste Eliminator facilities to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. This position will analyze, troubleshoot, install and repair production and/or facilities machines and equipment in accordance with established manufacturing procedures to achieve safety, efficiency, quality and optimum production objectives.
COMPENSATION: Hourly position; $30 - $35 depending on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be able to MIG and Stick Weld
- Work 11:00 am to 10:00pm
- Perform electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment at Waste Eliminator’s recycling and processing facilities. Equipment includes conveyers, grinders, trommels, and other machinery.
- Inspect all production equipment on a regular basis and ensure scheduled preventive maintenance is completed timely.
- Install, adjust, and repair production equipment and special purpose machines as needed.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut, change parts and complete tasks as assigned.
- Able to repair and fabricate using welding equipment.
- Diagnose malfunctions in equipment and machinery and determine whether repairs should be completed in house or if vendor assistance is required.
- Test malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs and discuss with leadership for approval and repairs as needed.
- Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Ensure safety guidelines are followed.
- Order materials and supplies to complete maintenance and repair tasks, following purchase order procedures and ensure most competitive pricing, quality and service.
- Maintain service and repair records, including ongoing preventive maintenance.
- Work a flexible schedule to perform maintenance while facilities are not operating.
- Read and use manuals, technical drawings, work orders, test results, machine error messages.
- Contribute to a culture of safety through active participation and regular training, never hesitating in bringing attention to any safety concerns.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Welding experience required
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited); trade school experience preferred.
- 3+ years’ industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to prioritize and multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with process-driven work style.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling preventative maintenance, planning maintenance projects, and ordering parts.
- Working knowledge of basic safety programs, particularly lock-out/tag-out procedures, as well as principles of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and mechanics.
- Strong electrical background preferred.
- Adequate computer skills to accurately document repairs and preventative maintenance practices.
- Experience with MS 365 applications preferred.
- Valid driver's license (non-CDL) *service truck provided.
- Sense of urgency mindset; takes necessary initiative.
- Ability to prioritize work in an effective manner.
- Winning and collaborative disposition.
Physical Requirements
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 65 lbs., extended standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, working inside and outside, and use of fall protection equipment.
- Able to perform job tasks in sometimes dusty, hot and/or cold working conditions.
- Able to work flexible schedule as needed when repairs are necessary outside normal work hours.
