Position Overview:
QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Director of Internal Communications to join our team in McLean,VA. This role is eligible for hybrid work. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping and executing our internal communications strategy across QinetiQ US. This role will be the lead for all internal communications across the company, and responsible for coordinating messaging, storytelling, and content for the company’s internal channels. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in working across a highly matrixed and geographically disperse organization and have experience reaching employees who work in secure environments and/or in manufacturing. Collaboration across the QinetiQ US enterprise, including our executives and business units, is key to success in this position. Additionally, this role will focus on aligning our efforts with the global QinetiQ communications and adapting them to resonate with the US market.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with business functions and units to highlight the best of QinetiQ US across the
organization. This role will drive employee engagement, facilitate company culture initiatives, enhance
company brand, and optimize employee communications based on data. We expect this role to:
o Develop and implement internal communications strategies to support company goals
and engage employees.
o Create and maintain an enterprise internal communications calendar.
o Draft and distribute executive communications to internal audiences.
o Manage internal communications platforms, including Sharepoint and Politemail.
o Support change management initiatives and M&A company integration.
o Foster a culture of open and effective communication within the organization.
o Lead company all-hands and executive site visits.
o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications efforts.
By effectively communicating our strengths and capabilities, you will bolster our brand reputation
and credibility among stakeholders and industry peers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing and 8-10 years of experience in
communications or public relations, with at least 5 years in a senior role focused on internal
communications. -
Strong writing and editing skills to ensure high-quality executive communications and internal messaging.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels.

Strong organization and project management skills to track and measure the impact of communications strategies.

Ability to manage multiple project and priorities simultaneously, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely delivery.

Deep knowledge of AP Style and experience in adhering to global brand standards.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for US audiences while maintaining global consistency.

Proficiency in using Sharepoint, PoliteMail, and other communication engagement tools.

Experience in crisis communications and issues management response.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing priorities effectively, while remaining agile and adaptable to changing circumstances.

Must be proactive in reaching out and building relationships and responsive to inquiries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace and defense experience preferred.
