Job Summary
- Ensures plant machinery and mechanical equipment are kept in working order.
- Diagnose part issues then dismantles machines, as needed, to replace defective parts. Reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.
- Addresses any emergency equipment repairs.
- Alteration, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Assists in coordinating, maintaining and communicating preventative maintenance schedules and records
- Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
- Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Installs and assists in the installation of equipment.
- Promptly and accurately complete forms, records and reports used to document the status of department projects and tasks.
- Perform monthly test on all safety systems
- Operate within our preventative and predictive maintenance program
- Responsible for keeping Safety First for you and your co-workers
- Determine corrective action necessary to minimize downtime, increase productivity, and maintain continuity of operations.
- Possibly reading manuals, blueprints and schematics to determine repair needs for various equipment.
- Promptly notifies the appropriate resources (internal and external) in the event major repairs to equipment or facilities are needed and provides accurate communication/documentation to assist in the repair.
- Use of ladders and lifts to access the building equipment.
- Communicate with production operators to ensure changeovers and equipment process.
- Report and inventory parts used on the off shifts to ensure parts inventory.
- Works with machine vendors to assist in repairing machines and ordering parts.
Core Qualifications
- Able to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs.
- The nature and pace of the work requires that an employee in this class be self-motivated, have a positive attitude and be highly ambitious.
- Have some knowledge of compressed air, vacuum, hydraulics, electronic controls, and their systems and related components.
- Skilled in use of a variety of tools; carpentry; plumbing; masonry work; mechanical and electrical repairs; minor welding; and preventative and scheduled maintenance.
- Capability to help troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on buildings and production equipment, including mechanical, pneumatic, electrical systems, machining, welding, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Take accurate measurements, perform basic math, understand and apply industry regulations, policies and procedures.
- Follow verbal and written instructions, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain valid driver's license.
- Ability to plan and organize building maintenance and repair work, read, write and interpret blue prints.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks to meet the needs of all staff
- Assists in developing and carrying out preventive maintenance program.
- Maintains effective and respectful working relationships with other associates.
Preferred Qualities
- 3+ years in specialty trade such as A/C, Carpentry or Electrical work or equivalent and/or a combination of education and experience.
- Skilled knowledge to clean, repair or replace various facility components
- Able to work alternating weekends
- Able to manage others.
- Computer and writing skills helpful.
- Electrical knowledge helpful.
- Machine building knowledge helpful.
- Active in and support of teamwork, continuous process improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Determination in not just fixing the breakdown, glitch, or malfunction but maintain focus to determine the root cause.
Compensation based on experience. Some nights and weekends required on a rotating basis.
