Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to spearhead the development and enhancement of our technology platform, EMPWR. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining scalable and robust software solutions that span mobile, web, and backend data engineering applications. This role requires strong technical and team leadership, excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and a passion for driving innovation in the EV charging industry. The Engineering Manager will oversee existing team members and external resources and lead hiring of new team members as the team expands.
Target Salary: $200,000-225,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture, solution design, and technical specification reviews with your team
- Set and own team performance against OKRs and performance/reliability KPIs
- Build a high performing team (foster a culture of ownership, belonging, and bias toward action; recruit the next generation of talent)
- Set overall technology strategy in partnership with the product team
- Establish frameworks and processes around architecture and implementation planning communication that can be understood by non-technical stakeholders
- Direct management of engineers, including coaching, performance management, promotions, and feedback
- Learn the EV Charging O&M business from the inside, leverage that knowledge to quickly prioritize and make decisions in an environment with high ambiguity
Projected Initial Time Allocation:
- 50% to 75% of time dedicated to writing code
- 25% to 50% of time allocated to engineering management tasks
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a full stack software engineering role shipping production code, with at least 2 years of experience leading distributed teams
- Deep experience with full-stack product work. ChargerHelp runs on Ruby, Expo/React Native, Snowflake, DBT, Terraform, and Go
- Experience building productive, high-performance software distributed on multiple cloud providers, including AWS
- Solid understanding of database design, data structures, and distributed design patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
- Operate with a high level of autonomy and accountability, collaborating with stakeholders to delegate effectively
- Strong asynchronous communication, with the ability to work with and lead a distributed team
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and security best practices
- Demonstrated success with and passion for working with diverse teams, especially with team members from historically marginalized and excluded populations
