High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for repairing the entire District's "on road" vehicles tires and turn drums and rotors for brake jobs being performed in the Transportation Department.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilizes the District's tire equipment to change tires.
2. Utilizes the tire balancer to balance tires.
3. Repairs flat tires.
4. Travels to a breakdown "on the road" to replace tires.
5. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
6. Assists all District Drivers with adjustments to vehicles.
7. Performs drivability test to insure safe operation of vehicles after completion of repairs.
8. Diagnoses, repairs, or replaces (Lights, Horn, Switches, Mirrors and Fans).
9. Attends training courses/seminars to maintain proficiency and advance skills and expertise.
10. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
11. Regularly required to safely operate a school bus and transport students to and from school and other designated locations in accordance with Texas code and the Transportation Department Employee Safety and Policy Handbook.
12. Occasionally operates other District vehicles in the performance of assigned tasks.
13. Reports to work on time every day.
14. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing and an acceptable driving record documented by a Motor Vehicle Records Check
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, and operating and maintenance instruction manuals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Possess or obtain within ninety (90) calendar days of employment a Valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) Endorsements, a driving record that meets the requirements of the Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Certification, the District and meets the qualifications for the Texas State Inspection License
- Successfully complete a twenty- hour Region XX School Bus Driver Safety Training Certification Course within one hundred and eighty (180) days of receiving enrollment certificate from Region XX
