Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) is to assist in improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation for services provided at GRMC. The CDIS is responsible for concurrent review of chart documentation. The CDIS collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary services, and medical records coding staff to assure appropriate documentation to facilitate reimbursement for the level of service rendered.
Job Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

Current licensure with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiner as an LVN or RN is required

3 years of previous Nursing experience in acute care required

CCDS or CDIP certification preferred

In lieu of CCDS or CDIP certification, minimum of 3 years of direct CDI experience in an acute care setting may suffice
