The Machine Repair Technician – Paint Specialist will be performing surface preparation and painting of all insulation blowers. Duties include surface preparation, paint mixing and application, spray gun/airline maintenance, application of safety and branding decals, and adherence to all safety guidelines for paint use.
· Inspect equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
· Surface preparation includes decal and adhesive removal, sanding, grinding, & minor welding.
· Masking techniques to minimize overspray.
· Knowledge and experience using a cup gun paint sprayer.
· Experience in a spray booth
· Knowledge and adherence to all safety regulations/standards.
· Machine is to be prepared to send back out to customer: cleaning of machine, painting, and sticker replacement as needed.
· Palletizing and banding equipment.
· Help organize and maintain inventory of paint supplies, spray guns, booth filters, and all safety equipment and PPE.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
A. General:
1. Must know how to and be capable of safely operating all shop repair tools.
2. Must be team oriented and able to interact with all levels of employees.
3. Must be reliable and be able to work 40+ hours per week including weekends when necessary.
4. Skills in planning and organizing work.
5. Maintaining a clean work area, housekeeping skills are essential.
B. Intellectual:
1. Must have skills to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems in an effective and timely manner.
2. Must be organized and able to keep accurate paperwork and computer databases.
3. Ability to work under pressure.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills.
5. Good communications skills are essential. Must be able to work within a team environment.
C. Physical:
1. Repeated lifting up to 75 lbs.
2. Be able to stand for approximately 75% of the workday
3. Frequent squatting and kneeling
4. Good manual dexterity with hands to pick up small parts, use hand tools, etc.
5. Good visual acuity
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A. Knowledge:
1. Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
2. Basic welding/cutting operations
3. Basic mathematic knowledge
4. Basic computer skills
B. Experience:
1. Safe use and operation of air “cup” gun spray equipment
2. Safe use and operation of hand/power tools
3. Welding experience
C. Equipment used: Variety of basic hand tools with primary use of paint spray equipment
D. Licenses/Certificates Required:
1. Valid drivers license
2. Ability to become certified as a forklift operator after attending a company sponsored training program.
3. Must be able to be medically cleared by a physician to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test training offered by the company.
E. Working Conditions: Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with a high level of dust (at times).
