Job Overview:
To stabilize individuals within the community who are experiencing crises, promote accessibility of services to all community members, and improve clients' ability to cope with environmental stresses and make healthy choices.
Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and effectively to requests for crisis intervention from local police departments, community agencies, schools, and residents and their family members.
- Assess, stabilize, and establish crisis clients in safe situations using the least restrictive environment that promotes continued stability.
- Advocate for crisis clients by coordinating smooth and orderly linkages to appropriate community resources such as hospitals, shelters, respite, and substance abuse treatment centers.
- Create a positive image in the community by handling crisis situations calmly, orderly, and knowledgeably.
- Employ best practice methods of assessment and clinical diagnosis for assigned clients.
- Ensure all required clinical documentation, including Mental Health Assessments (MHA), Individual Recovery Plans (IRP), Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs (IM-CANS), progress notes, and assessment scales (Locus, Columbia, and Ohio Scales), is completed per accreditation standards and funding requirements.
- Link clients to services outside the agency’s scope and act as an advocate with external service providers, as needed.
- Build effective working relationships with referral sources such as police departments, hospitals, and other social service agencies.
Qualifications:
- LCPC or LCSW, licensed in Illinois.
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Experience in mental health crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Valid state driver's license and insurance.
- Strong treatment skills in mental health assessment and counseling.
- Effective client engagement abilities.
