Your role in our success will be…
This entry-level position is responsible for operating, planning and conducting preventive/corrective maintenance on the gas turbine, HRSG combined heat and power (CHP) plant and associated ancillary equipment.
What you'll be working on:
- Monitor, record and trend readings from the CHP plant control system.
- Monitor the CHP plant control panels to ensure the proper operation of plant equipment.
- Operate the plant in a safe and efficient manner, following all plant procedures, health and safety and current operating practices.
- Monitor instrumentation readings for variances from prescribed operating standards and procedures.
- Respond to any variances, adjust and maintain the proper operation of plant equipment.
- Maintain plant maintenance management program, maintain parts inventory and perform parts ordering.
- Report conditions beyond the capabilities of the operator to the Lead Technician.
- Maintain the lock-out/tag-out log and monitor maintenance activities to ensure proper plant operation at all times.
- Visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair or adjustments.
- Report and/or correct unsafe conditions or hazards, (leaks, slip hazards, safety deficiencies, etc.).
- Responsible for the documentation of: Daily work logs, operations and maintenance activities, parts usage and inventory consumption.
- Perform maintenance, outage repairs and testing of equipment.
- Develop plans for future maintenance outages and coordinate entry of schedules into the appropriate PJM
system.
- Maintain records of forced outages and coordinate entry into CMMS system.
- Operate plant according to dispatch directions received from FPU
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides input into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for maintenance history or equivalent tracking and historical document retention system.
- Maintain cleanliness of all the plant office spaces and common areas.
- Performs BASIC independent maintenance activities and assists with intermediate, advanced and major maintenance activities.
Who you are:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, 2-4 year degree desired but not required
- Experience: 1-3 years of industrial experience, formal certification, military experience or equivalent
- Possess basic computer skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and gas turbine generator knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, data, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to speak English plainly, write work orders and understand oral communications.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Make decisions based on formal procedures, calculations, deductive reasoning, and consultation with supervisor.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb talk, hear and use hands.
- Required to reach with hands and arms and to climb and balance.
- Required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Vision abilities include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
