Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensures proper and timely scheduling of initial federal, local and special programs inspections of housing units within existing annual inspections schedules and in accordance with all applicable guidelines, including DCHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program and local program regulations as well as the requirements of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) housing quality standards; Reschedules and makes schedule adjustments as necessary; Schedules inspections within city geographical areas;
- Ensures the appropriate scheduling of special inspections of HCV units that have been substantially rehabilitated and are being considered for higher payment standards;
- Schedules complaint inspections and conducts related follow-up with affected parties (i.e. participants, landlords/owners, DCHA staff, etc.), including any relevant reporting;
- Coordinates vacant or pre-contract inspections of HCV units for the purpose of determining substantial compliance with housing codes and housing quality standards;
- Analyzes and resolves complex problems, keeping supervisor informed of problems as needed; Communicates with owners, agents, landlords, tenant representatives, and DCHA/HCVP staff involving issues related to scheduling; Replies to and resolves issues raised;
- Reviews and evaluates area of responsibility; prepares correspondence, technical and status reports, etc. to keep management informed of progress;
- Works with other HCVP staff to review, coordinate and schedule inspections related to Management Reviews into existing inspection schedules, as necessary;
- Assists in conducting reviews and evaluations of assigned topics of a technical, administrative or program nature;
- Prepares correspondence, technical and status repots keeping management apprised of timeframes satisfied or to be met;
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or other equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted.
