ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is a vital position requiring a positive attitude, creativity, collaboration, and most of all the versatility to work in any of our classrooms with children ranging from 6-weeks through school age. Job Responsibilities: The Floater Teacher is responsible for being able to adapt to teaching in any of the Academy classrooms. They are responsible for planning and implementing our proprietary curriculum, and completing assessments and reports for the children.
- Ensures the children's physical, social, and emotional needs are met daily.
- Ensures that all policies and procedures are implemented to keep the children healthy and safe.
- Creates activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to children's developmental levels and learning styles through well-defined interest areas.
- Assists and supervises children during all activities.
- Plans with a member of the Leadership Team the parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
- Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
- Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Ensures that the classroom's appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment are appropriately maintained per the NAEYC cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
- Assists in implementing the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Kiddie Academy curriculum..
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings, as requested.
- Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids and/or materials for classroom activities.
- Assists children with mealtimes and cleanup.
- Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment is in good working condition and is used and maintained correctly.
- Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions orderly.
- Interacts with parents and maintains open communication to encourage family engagement.
- Maintains the Family Information Board and other classroom bulletin boards.
- Schedules and conducts parent and teacher conferences throughout the year.
- Ensures that all licensing regulations are followed as required by the state.
- Must lift no less than 40 pounds to at least waist high consistently throughout the workday.
- Observes all rules and regulations at Kiddie Academy of Cornelius and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accepts temporary work assignments if regularly scheduled personnel are unavailable.
- Assists with planning and implementing Academy-wide events.
- Meets with prospective families; communicates appropriately with potential new customers.
- Assists in evaluating personnel within the classroom.
- Schedules field trips and speakers for monthly programs as directed by management.
- Performs other similar or related duties as necessary.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must meet all state and local licensing requirements for the position.
- Candidates must pass all state medical requirements and have a clear background check to qualify for employment.
- All employees must receive the required training hours per state licensing requirements each calendar year.
