Patient Services Representative (Medical Receptionist)
PSR - Patient Service Representative
We are looking for an experienced, professional patient service representative (PSR) to join our growing medical practice. The PSR role is focused on greeting patients in person and on the telephone while responding to their needs in an efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize patient needs or tasks in order of urgency or deadline.
Essential Job Functions
Answer a multi-line phone and respond accordingly in a friendly and professional manner
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, pleasant and professional manner
Ensures new patient paperwork has been completed prior to their visit
Verify and update patient demographic information including insurance information
Checks patients in per Electronic Medical Software for their scheduled appointment
Respond to verbal, non-verbal, and written communication
Schedule office visits, testing, and allergy injections per guidelines
Collects patient co-pay amounts, as well as any balances on account
Check patient eligibility and referrals (if required) prior to scheduled appointment
May be responsible for assisting patients schedule visits with outside providers
Ensures that proper HIPAA compliance is followed
Education and Experience
6 months + related experience in a medical office or similar clinic setting preferred
Understanding of medical office procedures
Basic medical terminology
Excellent phone etiquette
Additional Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation.
Reliable attendance.
Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
Basic computer skills. (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must have proven communication skills and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
Ability to actively listen and interpret patient needs.
