WE PROVIDE THE FINEST HOMEBUILDING EXPERIENCE.
Our design studio is an architecture and interior design firm that lives within a custom homebuilding company. It is a dynamic place to practice as design development can be collaborated on with both your fellow creative coworkers and construction experts to create well-planned construction documents leading to beautifully constructed spaces. We are design chameleons as our projects reflect the personality and style of our homeowners rather than a single design aesthetic - allowing our team to experience an interesting variety of design styles.
Relationships with our homeowners are long lasting, and very personal, and are the most important aspect of this position. The Project Designer becomes the homeowners design guide and consultant, providing not only technical expertise, but also becoming a trusted opinion and a part of their lives during the design and construction process.
The Project Designers are focused on managing five to ten projects at a time of varying scale and complexity, with the support from other team members as well as working in collaboration with Managing Principal and Creative Director, Lindsay Cullum-Colwell, RA|NCARB. Each project has a three-person project team (Project Designer, Project Manager, Project Superintendent) who stay involved on the project from design start to construction completion, providing a cohesive team of professionals working together for each homeowner.
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned projects from start of design process to completion of construction and furnishing installation. This includes finished construction documents, landscape coordination, creation of the interior specifications set, approval of exterior materials, and documentation of the client’s design selections in the project management platform.
- Maintains and documents continuous and accurate communication with all team members.
- Coordinates client meetings with outside vendors, including low voltage, landscape, and cabinets/closets to ensure decisions are made and incorporated into the construction document set and communicated to the Project Team.
- Prepare and present plans, materials, and design concepts to homeowners in person and in the ARCHICAD model.
- Coordinates Design Review Committee and permit documents with the Technical Director and engineering firm.
- Prepare construction documents and interior design technical documents in ARCHICAD, including custom details, elevations, floorplans, and RCPs.
- Manage the homeowners’ expectations for timeline, design vision, and budget through clear communication and proactive support - both in the design process and through construction phases of the project.
- Coordinates all trades and agencies related to building design while monitoring drawings in conjunction with the other members of the project team - the Project Manager and the Project Superintendent.
- Actively participates in the construction process through site visits and Project Team meetings in order to work collaboratively with the Project Team.
