Phlebotomist/Lab (Pediatrics)
Woburn & North Andover Pediatric Associates is looking for a full-time pediatric Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant with a strong interest in working in a busy pediatric practice that has been serving patients and parents in the Woburn & North Andover and surrounding communities for 50+ years. As a private practice, we pride ourselves on the ability to develop quality relationships with our patients & families while delivering excellent medical care.
This full-time, 40-hour position is primarily located in our Woburn office and requires flexibility to occassionally work in our North Andover offices. Must be available to work 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday per month (shorter-hours) and ability to work several 'minor' holidays (also shorter days). We offer a $3.00/hr weekend differential. Our Woburn office is open weekends & some holidays for newborn & sick appointments.
The reliable, proactive & collaborative professional in this role will work independently to ensure smooth daily operations of our busy pediatric clinical lab, with a primary focus on quality care of our young patients.
Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Obtaining specimens for testing through blood draws and other methods for processing & testing in our in-house laboratory.
- Following established laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Assuring test results are properly entered into Epic, our electronic medical record (EMR) system, and made available in a timely manner to the ordering Provider.
- Monitoring test results received from outside laboratories to assure that all appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
- Following established policies & procedures whenever test systems deviate from the lab’s established performance standards. Must be able to proactively identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, either correcting the problem(s) or notifying the lab team member in charge. All corrective actions taken will then then be documented.
- Adhering to the lab’s quality control policies, documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Maintaining records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
