Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Home Care
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team in providing outstanding home care services to patients in Florida. As a PTA in home care, you will work closely with licensed physical therapists to implement personalized treatment plans and assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals in the comfort of their own homes.Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed physical therapists in conducting initial assessments of patients' physical abilities, functional status, and mobility limitations.
- Implement individualized treatment plans under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and manual therapy techniques.
- Monitor patients' progress and response to treatment interventions, and communicate findings to the supervising physical therapist and other members of the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on proper techniques for performing therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living, as well as safety precautions to prevent injuries.
- Provide encouragement, motivation, and emotional support to patients throughout the rehabilitation process, fostering a positive and empowering environment.
- Document all patient treatments, interventions, progress notes, and communication with healthcare team members accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to coordinate care and maximize patient outcomes.
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures governing physical therapy practice and home care services.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and supplies, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of care.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Florida.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a PTA, preferably in home care or a related setting.
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, techniques, and modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technology.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to patients' homes within the designated service area.
