WHAT YOUR DAY IN THIS ROLE MIGHT INVOLVE AT OC JACKSONVILLE ROOFING PLANT
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Advanced Mechanical Specialist II (AMS II) will perform heavy mechanical and light electrical maintenance duties. Persons in these roles will be expected to be able to work independantly and will be given an opportunity to learn and advance to the more senior craft roles in the Maintenance Department. Persons accepting these roles may be required to attend coursework off the clock to supplement on the clock learning, which is designed to enable higher proficiency as well as scoring on the standardized Maintenance Aptitude Tests required at the higher level craft positions. Course work may be computer or classroom based at the company's discretion. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ~75-80% of time will be focused on industrial mechanical duties such as pipe fitting, welding, machining, hydraulics and working with sheet metal
- ~10-15% of time will be assisting the performance of industrial electrical duties such as instrumentation, replacing, repairing and cleaning systems, equipment and/or component parts and basic electric work
- ~5-10% of time will be administrative such as SAP entry, meetings, and training
- Comply with all plant rules and corporate policies with regard to business conduct
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Support the site TPM vision by actively participating in PM pillar activities
- Document work and activities, inspection findings, and parts consumed accurately in SAP
- Expected to continue to develop skills and abilities with a combination of formal training and on the job experience
- Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Acceptable mechanical aptitude score
- Must be a self-starter that displays initiative and a willingness to learn
- Minimum of four (4) years in a related trade or occupation that involved machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Microsoft Suite experience and working knowledge required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must read, write and speak English
- Must understand verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Must multi-task
- Forklift operation, licensed, incident free
- Must be able to think under pressure and make quick decisions
- Must be able to work and communicate professionally
- Must demonstrate above average attention to detail
- Must have intermediate mechanical and basic electrical aptitude
- Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
- Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
- Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
- Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours-continuous
- Ascend and descend stairs to enter most areas of the facility-continuous
- Ability to work in cramped areas and enter confined spaces-frequently
- Ability to work at heights - frequently
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task
- Regular attendance onsite and ability to rotate and work shift work
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED TRAINING
- All annual safety, quality and role specific training, as required by the nature of this position
