Position Summary
The Mental Health Technician is an incredible opportunity to expand your role in health care through functioning as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. This role is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients while assisting with the provision of basic patient care and recovery needs.
Responsibilities
- You will support the unit through excellent patient customer service and clinic management assistance
- You will collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office staff and clinic management to ensure comprehensive health care outcomes
- You will perform a variety of functions within the clinic setting requiring specialized knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data
- Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
- You will assist with maintaining a safe and hazard free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions and applying appropriate emotional and physical support
- You will provide and document interventions in a variety of modalities individually matched to the needs of each patient
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any other human services field required; Two (2) years of inpatient Behavioral Health experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
- Must obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration within 60 days of hire unless a higher credential is held
- Must obtain a Nursing Assistant Registered or CNA prior to start date
- Health Care Provider level CPR certification Peer MHT: Self-identify as a consumer who has received mental health services and can demonstrate that they have been well grounded in their own mental health recovery for at least one year
- Must be eligible for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor
- Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care experience preferred
