Food Services Assistant
The Food Services Assistant supports all aspects of the Food and Nutrition operation.
We are committed to promoting healthy food choices among our students and maintaining high nutritional standards while offering delicious and satisfying menu choices. Provides support in the lunchroom by assisting students and staff to provide an orderly, safe, and pleasant lunchtime.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accepts deliveries of food and food-related supplies into the kitchen, checking for freshness and accuracy against delivery amounts and ordered supplies.
- Perform all duties assigned by the Food Service Coordinator & Administration in the selection, preparation, and serving of food
- Prepare meals and plate food as needed for lunch times, ensuring tables are ready by the start of each lunch.
- Greet and take orders, with special attention to dietary requests.
- Assist scholars with food preparation.
- Maintain a clean and safe food service environment; perform sanitation duties to ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to state regulations
- Assist with keeping the food preparation area clean, activities include picking up trash, clearing tables, washing food preparation tools, and wiping down counters, tables, and floors as needed.
- Removes garbage and other debris from the kitchen and cafeteria.
- Using proper food safety standards, stock shelves, refrigerators, and freezers with delivered goods. Rotate stock, as necessary.
- Assist with the accurate keeping of records and ordering of supplies
- Demonstrate a positive demeanor when interacting with students and staff.
- Store, utilize, and dispose of food and supplies following federal, state, local, and district regulations
- Adhere to food safety standards at all times, making sure that all food is free of contaminants and pathogens that might make customers sick.
Job Qualifications:
- High school degree or GED
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods
- Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning, and maintenance
- Must be required to lift heavy food and food-related items
REPORTS TO & EVALUATED BY: Operations Manager
Employment Status:
Hours: 7 am - 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday when school is in session.
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. Must have culinary/ food service cooking experience, food handling certification required, K-12 helpful
ServeSafe® certified a plus
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $16.50 - $23.00 per hour
