Responds to requests for medical records; processes letters and reports; answers and directs telephone calls
- Opens office (checks answering machine for messages, turns on computers, calls answering service, etc.) disperses messages.
- Closes office (turns over phones to answering service, delivers outgoing mail to mailbox at end of day, etc.)
- Answers telephone lines promptly.
- Greets patients and visitors upon arrival.
- Correctly enters registration and insurance information into computer.
- Secures all necessary signatures on patient’s medical records.
- Verifies the insurance for those that must be done on date of service.
- Performs various secretarial and clerical duties.
- Verifies insurance benefits.
- Enters patient information into computer.
- Collects patient payments.
- Learns all other aspects of admitting, scheduling, etc. for optimal efficiency of the Business Office.
