The Medical Assistant will be
responsible for checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms; sending/receiving patient medical records and obtaining lab/x-ray reports; and cleaning exam rooms between patient visits. You would also draw blood, check patient vital signs, and administer IM injections.
Additional responsibilities include:
Fulfills patient care responsibilities: collecting patient history; performing screening per provider guidelines; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls, and providing pertinent information
Fulfills clerical responsibilities: completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately
Fulfills environmental responsibilities: maintaining infection control; keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; and restocking exam/procedure rooms
Fulfills clinical Medical Assisting responsibilities: providing biohazard waste disposal and monitoring; laboratory procedures, including Occupations Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) guidelines
Job Requirements:
The Medical Assistant (MA) will have a High School diploma or GED; (MA) diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college program.
Additional requirements include:
Experience with Electrocardiogram (EKG), taking vital signs, venipuncture, IM injections, and Subcutaneous injections.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to maintain quality and quantity of work
Good attendance and punctuality;
flexibility and willingness to take initiative
Other requirements:
Current documentation of a national certification for the registered (MA) through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or for the certified assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Be efficient with EHR (Athena)
