WHAT OUR PATIENTS CAN EXPECT

An office that is surprisingly efficient in everything we do, a compassionate team who lives by our values of integrity and accountability, and total transparency in our practice. OUR TEAM
Simply put - everyone on our team is a rockstar. We are honored and proud to have doctors that come from the top programs in the country such as Harvard Medical School and UT Southwestern. All of our providers are incredibly smart, but more importantly, they are genuinely great people to work with. We also proudly recognize that our staff is the reason for our growth and success! Our medical assistants, patient coordinators, and billing department are made up of hard working, resilient, innovative people who strive to make our practice better each day. Complacency is not in our blood. We’re always challenging ourselves and challenging each other to offer the best care and to create an unexpectedly positive experience for our patients.
OUR VALUES
Our core values are the foundation of everything we do at Northstar Dermatology. Every member of our team not only believes in our core values, but lives them.
1. Be even better: Make large strides through small steps. Embrace relentless self-cultivation and continuous education. Don’t be afraid to reimagine life and transform.
2. Act intentionally: Every action should be performed deliberately and with intention. Eliminate unnecessary steps, simplify processes, delegate duties that may be done better by others, and batch your time. In summary, work smarter and not harder.
3. 100 % Authentic: We work to promote open, honest conversation in a professional tone and judgment free environment. Our staff, patients, and family all deserve the respect of an explanation.
4. George Washington: Integrity implies doing the right thing when no one is looking, whatever the consequences. Own your intentions, your words, and your deeds. Be accountable; make a promise and follow through.
A day in the life of a Medical Assistant:
You are a genuinely caring individual who loves to help others. You are intrigued by Dermatology and want to be part of helping patients achieve their treatment goals. You are detail-oriented and thorough in your work, and adaptable to working with different people.
The Medical Assistants at Northstar Dermatology are not your typical MA. Our Medical Assistants have the opportunity to work alongside our providers to assist with all aspects of patient care. The MA team is actively involved during the entirety of the patient visit, and our providers rely on the skills of our Medical Assistants to conduct an efficient and successful appointment. As an MA, you will be rooming the patient, obtaining their medical history and reason for visit, preparing and delivering a formal presentation to the provider, and then you will go back into the room and scribe the entire exam note for the provider. During scribing, you must be fully engaged in listening to capture and document all of the pertinent history information and treatment plan instructions. You’ll also need to type quickly as the exams are very quick and efficient!
One of the best parts about being a Medical Assistant at Northstar Dermatology is that you will be very hands-on. Our MA’s love that they get to assist with different types of surgical and cosmetic procedures every day. In addition, Medical Assistants are responsible for various clinical duties such as sterilizing instruments, calling patients to deliver lab or pathology results, triaging and taking messages for the providers, sending in prescriptions, and following up with patient care. Since our Medical Assistants handle some important responsibilities, it is crucial that they are accurate and detailed in all of their work. Well-written, thorough documentation is expected from all of our Medical Assistants.
One important fact to note - Dermatology is a high-volume medical specialty (meaning we see a LOT of patients each day), so to succeed in our clinic, you must be someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment without being overwhelmed.
Our Medical Assistants receive a well-rounded medical office experience by training and rotating through our front office as well. Here, you’ll be trained on strategic patient scheduling, understanding insurance benefits, and properly collecting payments. Finally, we offer the opportunity for our Medical Assistants to gain leadership experience by means of a rotating “lead” position. As a lead, you’ll be the “go-to” person to help your teammates, delegate tasks when needed, and ensure accountability of the clinical team. Overall, the MA team works incredibly well together to complete all clinical duties for the day. Everyone looks out for each other and steps in to help when needed.
Our patients often ask for our Medical Assistants by name and rave about how wonderful they are – and we couldn’t agree more! Our Medical Assistants work really hard to ensure that patients are cared for, and they do it all with style and grace!
