The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the facility. This includes ensuring that all machinery, equipment, and systems are maintained in a state of good repair and operating efficiently. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of maintenance technicians and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Management and Supervision:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the maintenance team, including technicians and support staff.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor work progress to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
2. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Utilize predictive maintenance techniques to identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
3. Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with equipment and systems.
- Coordinate and perform necessary repairs and adjustments to ensure optimal functioning.
- Manage emergency repair situations efficiently to minimize production downtime.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety training and inspections.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to maintenance and facilities management.
5. Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, including labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
- Monitor and control maintenance costs while ensuring high-quality service.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
6. Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts and supplies.
- Ensure timely procurement of parts and materials to support maintenance activities.
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.
7. Project Management:
- Plan and oversee maintenance projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Coordinate with other departments and external contractors as needed.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
8. Reporting and Documentation:
- Generate regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and key metrics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and documentation.
- Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement based on data analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
Working Conditions:
- May be required to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to address emergency maintenance issues.
- Work may involve exposure to hazardous conditions, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
