We are seeking a qualified maintenance technician for the 1st shift at our food manufacturing facility in Greenwood, IN. First shift hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and pay is $32.00 to $38.00 per hour depending on experience. Overtime may be required on weekends. During the week, you might be asked to open as early as 4:00 am or close as late as midnight depending on the shift. This position is responsible for assisting the maintenance manager with the proper maintenance of equipment throughout the facility. Troubleshooting equipment and facility issues that arise. Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment. Performing preventative maintenance. Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary. Handling basic repairs and maintenance. Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them. This position is not limited to the above description as other responsibilities may include tasks, projects, or plans given by Management. All applicants must be willing to do overtime as mentioned above.
Responsibilities:
Conducts preventative maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs food manufacturing equipment including steam jacketed kettles, blenders, bottle filling lines, CIP systems, boilers, wastewater systems, freezers, forklifts, pumps, and other machinery. Fabricates new equipment, as necessary. Maintains boiler feed water chemical balance and boiler blowdowns. Tests the functionality of the facilities' safety systems. Reports to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required plus associates or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing facility. Food manufacturing preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- In addition to mechanical experience, ideal candidate will have skill in electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, boilers, troubleshooting, and fabrication.
- Should have good communication skills, some experience using computers, and parts acquisition.
- Must have prior experience performing routine maintenance.
- Must have prior experience using hand and power tools.
- Welding experience required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to troubleshoot any equipment mechanical failure.
- Must have problem analysis and decision-making skills.
- Must have strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Must work well within a team environment, as well as, independently.
- Must have strong time management skills and be able to complete projects promptly.
- Must have the ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace any defective parts.
- Welding experience required.
Work task Requirements (Safety Requirements):
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Proper lock out systems for electrical.
- Safely using proper tools for the job.
- Using eye protection for welding, grinding, and cutting.
- Using gloves for all jobs.
