We are seeking a diligent and hard working individual with medical office experience to fill a multi-faceted position with emphasis on transcription abilities. Applicant must possess a strong grasp of the English language; Armenian language skills are a plus. Pay will be hourly and based upon experience.
Electronic Record System
- Transcribe hand written progress notes into electronic health record system
- Obtain new patient history and physical prior to doctor seeing the patient
- Ensure patient’s electronic profile is up-to-date and organized, including past medical history, surgical history, and current medications
- Ensure patient’s progress note has the proper documentation to fulfill the CMS guidelines required for medical supplies
- Attach electronically submitted lab results that were not automatically done so
- Authorize medication refills or transmit new prescriptions
- Address any technical issues co-workers have with Practice Management and EMR
Front Desk
- Greet patients
- Ensure signed-in patients are in the appointment book, marked arrived, and chart pulled
- Verify insurance eligibility of select patients
- Answer phone calls
- Provide paperwork, obtain insurance copy, and create a chart for new patients
- Sort through faxes and separate them for filing or for doctor’s review
- Discharge patients by obtaining co-pay, filing out lab requisition forms, and providing information for referrals
- Provide ICD codes for lab and radiology billing
- Schedule appointments
- Prepare pre-op paperwork and fax to the proper facility or physician
- Obtain prior authorization for medications using CoverMyMeds
- Schedule emergency appointments for patients to see specialists
- Provide authorization information to patients
- Obtain patient results from laboratories and radiology centers
- Address any issues related to the computers, laptops, scanner, and printer/fax
Doctor’s Assistant
- Set-up house call appointments
- Fill out forms for FMLA, disability insurance, school physicals, travel insurance, and medical supplies
- Clarify medications and directions with patients and pharmacists
- Send electronic and/or paper prescriptions and refills via phone call, paper fax and electronically
- Set-up lunch meetings with pharmaceutical representatives
- Write letters for patients on various topics
- Write letters of recommendations
- Fill out evaluation forms for students doing rotations with the doctor
- Provide training for new staff
- Manage schedule for meetings and conferences
- Provide information regarding routine and travel vaccinations and titers
- Fill out Medicare Assessment Forms
- Provide translation for Armenian speaking patients
