Overview:
Knowledge Services is seeking an Accounts Receivable Accountant for a 12-month contract (potential for extension) with the State of Indiana National Guard in Indianapolis.
This is an onsite role working downtown Indianapolis.

Pay rate is $21/hr

Role includes 11 paid holidays and will accrue 7.5 hours of PTO each month !
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable Accountant Responsibilities:
- Serves as one of three account representatives for Cooperative Agreements and Accounts Receivables for the Adjutant General’s Office.
- Responsible for general accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, maintenance of state and federal financial records, and accounts of several program areas involved in the disbursement of funds and reimbursement from federal funds as appropriate.
- Analyzes reimbursable procurement activity and disbursement of federal/state funds to ensure proper payment/billing.
- Prepares requests for Federally Advanced Funds and/or Federal Reimbursement Funds.
- Prepares and verifies journal vouchers and interdepartmental bills in coordination with other State agencies and the Auditor of the State’s Office.
- Approves Accounts Payable and General Ledger entries in PeopleSoft ERP.
- Receives in funds, prepares Reports of Collection in PeopleSoft ERP, and records the deposit number assigned by the Treasurer of the State of Indiana in PeopleSoft ERP.
- Requests release of federal appropriations as allotments into accounts and major object codes.
- Prepares accounting reports and financial statements.
- Analyzes and interprets accounting reports and financial statements.
- Receives and prepares account statements, payrolls, periodic reports, and other records.
- Records and distributes account receivables.
- Interacts with and responds to Federal, State and agency auditors.
- Advises management of status of accounts and program funding.
- Coordinates work with subordinate program area employees.
Qualifications:
Accounts Receivable Accountant Qualifications include:
- At least Five (5) years full-time professional experience in accounting, auditing, or related experience.
- Substitutions: Accredited college training in accounting or a related area may substitute for the required experience with a maximum substitution of four (4) years. Completion of accredited vocational or business school training in accounting or a related area may substitute for the required experience with a maximum substitution of one (1) year. Accredited graduate training in any one of or a combination of the following subject areas may substitute for the required experience with a maximum substitution of 1 year: Accounting, Business Administration, or a related area. Successful completion of the Certified Public Accountant Examination by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants may substitute for all the required experience. (Proof of certification must accompany application.)
- Considerable knowledge of federal and state accounting and bookkeeping laws, policies, procedures, and automated accounting systems;
- Specialized knowledge of agency organization and function.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently or as a team as the situation dictates.
- Ability to develop and execute complex procedures and devise working forms and records, and to develop and recommend solutions to specific accounting problems.
- Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret accounting reports and financial statements.
- Ability to reconcile all federally advanced and federally reimbursed accounts.
