Accounts Payable (AP):
Job Title: Company Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: CEO
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Company Accountant to join our team. This role will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve any payment discrepancies.
- Prepare and execute timely payments.
- Maintain accurate records of all AP transactions.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate and distribute invoices to customers.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Process customer payments and apply them to the correct accounts.
- Reconcile AR balances and prepare aging reports.
Bank Reconciliations:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
- Maintain accurate cash flow records.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
Budgeting and Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Track and analyze budget variances.
- Provide recommendations for cost optimization.
Other:
- Prepare and file sales tax returns.
- Assist with year-end audits.
- Perform ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Experience:
- 4 plus years (and degree) of quantifiable accounting experience preferably with a mid-sized company ($5-$15 million in total revenue)
- Must have extensive experience with online accounting systems (ie Quickbooks, Xero, etc)
- Be someone who enjoys accounting and being part of team that values what they have to offer
- Highly proficient in cloud-based Google Sheets, Drive, and Docs in updating and developing custom reporting and formulaic equations
- Enjoys offering solutions and recommendations for improving internal accounting and reporting processes
- Understanding the full range of financial processes including management and year end accounts and has meticulous attention to detail of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to demonstrate a flexibility of approach and to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability for critical and logical thinking, good judgment, and problem solving
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and trust
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
