Job Summary
At Davis Tool & Machine, the Tool and Die Maker is responsible for manufacturing or rebuilding depositor pumps for the food production industry. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and a varied skill set. The Tool and Die Maker will collaborate with engineering and management to ensure that the customer's expectations are met and exceeded. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining (milling), a desire to help us continuously improve, and a commitment to producing high-quality products that are right the first time, every time.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspections on depositor pumps and document key characteristics/dimensions.
- Communicate any additional repairs or replacements needed to management.
- Oversee or perform disassembly of pumps and cleaning/polishing of all non-wear components.
- Manufacture components for the depositor pump as required, either by reverse-engineering customer-supplied parts or by interpreting engineering drawings. Milling programs may exist, or you may need to write them at the control.
- Oversee or perform reassembly of the depositor pump.
- Perform testing to ensure that the rebuilt assembly does not leak.
- Closely document all project steps, detailing work performed.
- Work closely with engineering/management to document pump components for future rebuilds.
- Coordinate with machinists and machine operators as they assist with manufacturing components for the depositor pump you are building/rebuilding.
- Collaborate with engineering/management to improve designs and manufacturing processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work semi-independently once trained and completely own the quality of your project.
- Proficient with setting up and programming vertical machining centers (experience with Hurco controls is desired, but not required).
- Competence in using precision inspection equipment to reverse engineer, document, or inspect products.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Working Environment
- Required to use overhead cranes to safely handle products. May need to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May need to stand for extended periods or perform repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to work some overtime if necessary.

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
