SUMMARY
Provides nursing care is in accordance with the patient’s plan of care, including: comprehensive assessment, monitoring of the health status, coordination of services, teaching and training activities, and management of the care plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs and/or assesses patient with all personal care activities.
- Develops or assists with development and implementation of Nursing Care Plan.
- Administers prescribed medication.
- Performs all treatments as ordered by physician.
- Participates in patient/family teaching activities.
- Performs nursing skills and procedures which are usual customary practice, as permitted by the Nurse Practice Act and for which the Registered Nurse can demonstrate experience.
- Maintains documentation of all nursing activities and observations, according to the requirements of the individual health care setting. Records and reports to the physician and the agency, the patient's reaction to treatment and/or any changes in the patient's condition.
- Participates in Quality Improvement Activities.
- Conducts initial and ongoing physical, psycho-social functional and nutritional assessments appropriate to patient service status.
- Communicates effectively with all those providing care. Immediately notifies the agency of any unforeseen circumstances or changes in the patient’s condition.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and CPR certification.
