The Patient Service Coordinator serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Answers telephones courteously and promptly, routing calls in a timely manner to appropriate receiver. Checks-in all patients upon arrival to the office. Instructs patients on proper form completion. Makes certain all demographic and insurance infromation information is checked on each patient making changes in the patients electronic medical record, Collects and posts co-pays and balances ledger at the end of the day. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: (INCLUDES LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS) High school graduate or equivalent. One to three years’ experience in a similar position within a medical office preferred. Experience with computerized appointment scheduling and patient demographics preferred.

PATIENT CHECK IN:
1. Greets patients and public courteously and promptly.
2. Verifies that each patient’s demographic information is accurate upon the patient’s arrival.
3. Verifies insurance and if patient does not have card is able to verify eligibility through Internet or phone call.
4. Collects payment up front for new patients without proof of insurance.
5.. Instructs new patients to complete registration forms and financial policies.
7. Instructs patients to complete waivers, lack of proof of insurance and other forms as necessary.
8. Collect co-payments, payment on account, and accurately enters into PM system
.PATIENT CHECK OUT:
1. Reschedules patients as directed by medical staff and physicians.
2. Prints and provides any additional forms as indicated by medical staff.
FILING:
1. Accurately scans and/or links documents into EPIC (lab and radiology results, hospital information and other documents) promptly ensuring that the correct patient is selected.
MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Open and close office each day.
2. Maintain adequate inventory of office supplies.
3. Maintain adequate inventory of forms.
4 Maintain clean and organized waiting area, including managing literature and watering plants.
5. Monitors drug representatives checking with Clinic Administrator to determine if visit is appropriate.
6. Support billing when needed if they call with questions or verification.
7. Review incoming faxes and distribute or link as required.
8. Send faxes as requested.
9. Manage cash in cash drawer so there is an adequate amount for daily change, visiting the bank when necessary.
