JOB SUMMARY
This is a full-time, benefited position with set shifts during the week and occasional Saturday morning shift (comp day during the week if a Saturday is worked). Responsible for check out area activities with clerical and reception duties. Collects patient payments, answers phones, schedules appointments, prepares bank deposits, balances collections and statements according to established guidelines and requirements, and requests medical records. Reviews charts for compliance with approved policies and completion of patient registration.

QUALIFICATIONS
Two years medical reception experience required
- Must understand the importance of entering patient demographic and insurance information correctly.
- Must be comfortable collecting large sums of money.
- Must be able to multi-task and complete assignments independently without the need for micro-management.
- Excellent communication and phone skills required.
- Requires language skills adequate for written and interpersonal communication in English with extra compensation for bi-lingual Spanish speakers.
- Must be competent with Excel and able to learn computer applications quickly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Checks in patients to the clinic following the established policies and procedures.
- Answers phone calls courteously and in a pleasant voice.
- Accepts and relays messages effectively.
- Maintains an excellent working knowledge of the Facility’s EMR system.
- Collects co pays, co-insurance and deductibles from patients. Will create receipt and give copy to each patient for payment made.
- Makes calls to patients to collect past due debt.
- Assembles daily bank deposits and reviews batches for accuracy.
- Assists Financial Counselor in obtaining pertinent information to register patient and attaches proper means to document patient identity.
- Provides accurate balance collection information to patient and front office according to policies and procedures.
- Tracks Outside Monitoring patients and medications and provides accurate financial information to patient.
- Coordinates reception area activities for effective communication with all areas of the clinic.
- Maintains and protects each patient's right to confidentiality.
- Identifies emergencies and initiates appropriate response (i.e., codes, alarms, etc).
- Assumes clerical duties and responsibilities, as necessary.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of the reception and lobby area.
- Coordinates obtaining diagnostic tests and places diagnostic test reports in appropriate section of patient medical record.
- Coordinates the collection, processing, maintenance, storage, retrieval and distribution of medical records according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
