POSITION OVERVIEW
We are searching for our next SUPER STAR ! As the Eligibility Specialist you will get to experience meeting and interviewing Community Health Center patients to determine enrollment in eligibility programs such as Title V, Primary Health Care, Methodist Healthcare Ministries and other privately funded programs. Assist patients apply for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Needs to remain current on patient eligibility status as well as changes in enrollment protocols. Contact patients as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluates patient’s eligibility using the CHASIS Medicaid Eligibility System.

Provides information to the public to educate them about programs and services.

Uses necessary strategies to identify potential patients.

Explains program services, policies and procedures to patients and staff.

Interviews and gathers information from patients interested in applying for services.

Completes necessary forms and maintains complete and accurate records on each prospective client.

Complies with TDH, state and private funding requirements.

Abides by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.

Abides by policies and procedures on hazardous materials as dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook.
-
Participates in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.

Abides by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.

Performs other duties as required by the position.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : High School Graduate or equivalent
Experience: At least 6 months experience in a health care setting – preferably a public health setting.
Other : Use of calculator, computer experience preferred.
Must be able to establish a positive working relationship with other staff members and the public.
Must have working knowledge of basic math.
