SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, create a clean and orderly environment for clients as well as planning and preparing economical, healthy meals for all shelter residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to keep facility clean and well maintained. Ensure doorknobs and handrails are sanitized and wiped down.
Clean client rooms upon exit and with an appropriate work order.
Collect and dispose of trash.
Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies.
Notify supervisor of any damage or deficits.
Maintain inventory of necessary cleaning supplies and notify Operations Coordinator when items should be ordered.
Prepare lunch and dinner five days a week for adult and child shelter residents to be served at a time deemed by Sanctuary.
Prepare menus that take into consideration the varying health and cultural needs of shelter residents.
Utilize donated foods as much as possible and construct weekly shopping lists. Items will include, but are not limited to ingredients for breakfast, lunch, dinner, after school snacks, and food for residential use on weekends.
Maintain a clean and orderly shelter kitchen and pantry area, including regular and thorough cleaning of appliances, walls, cabinets, shelves, etc.
Organize shelter food stock, regularly rotating foods for storage and ensuring that the food items in the freezers and refrigerators are covered and labeled appropriately. All food in refrigerators and freezers should be marked with the date received. All leftovers should be marked with the date served and discarded after 72 hours.
Perform cleanup after lunch and dinner preparation.
Clean coffee pot and prepare coffee for morning use. Prepare a tray of grab and go breakfast foods for residents.
Maintain all necessary written documentation as required by the health department, USDA, and other governing bodies and/or funders.
