Job Summary:
Provide all aspects of medication administration to youth, as outlined by the NY State Education Department, DOH and JCCA.
Essential Job Functions:
- Medication Administration including transcription of medication orders.
- Communicate medication orders to pharmacy and check deliveries
- Ensure and obtain psychotropic medication consents when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Medication Administration Records.
- Monitor and perform controlled substance counts and destruction of narcotics.
- Provide support and education to youth & families and staff.
- Assist in the assessment of medication side effects &/or the effectiveness of treatment.
- Oversee all aspects of the delivery, storage and administration of all medications in the cottage(when necessary)
- Provide client and family education
- Participate in ordering process of stock medications
- Assist with training staff on medication administration
- Assist other medical/nursing staff with health care management when necessary
- Provide direct nursing care to residents presenting to the health center with illness or injury
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
- NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license
- At least one year of clinical experience (pediatrics preferred) or acute / sub-acute care.
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Bilingual (Spanish) is helpful
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7am-3pm
Pay Rate: $30 -$35 per hour
