Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts is a unique high school offering students, beginning with the 8th grade, an opportunity to explore high school while focusing on their areas of interest within journalism and media arts. Our educational focus is to create great writers, journalists, and productive citizens. Richard Wright PCS is currently seeking dedicated, motivated, highly qualified teachers for the school year 2024-2025 as we continue to expand our academic program in the areas of following positions:
- English
- Math

- Social Studies
- Latin
- Journalism
- Graphic Design
- Special Education
- Student Support
In order to be considered for the positions listed above, an applicant must meet the following qualifications:
--A bachelors degree in secondary education and/or the subject the applicant is interested in teaching (REQUIRED), OR
-If no degree, have taken the Praxis Exam in the subject matter you are teaching (REQUIRED)
--The ability to prove that he or she is a Highly Qualified Teacher, which, for DC charter schools, means either a valid DC Teaching License, proof of having taken the Praxis in the subject he or she will be teaching, or at least a bachelors degree with the major of the subject he or she wishes to teach (REQUIRED)
--Two years or more working with students of this age group (REQUIRED)
--Experience working with diverse populations in an urban setting (REQUIRED)
--Proven ability to work as a member of a team (REQUIRED)
--Strong leadership capabilities (REQUIRED)
--Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development (REQUIRED)
